Tagish Wilderness Lodge cares about the environment – We wisely use our limited resources and carefully explore the nature-given wonders around our place. Come and join us on our mission to preserve what is precious! Learn here about some of the measures we take to ensure that the surroundings of Tagish Wilderness Lodge remain as pristine as they are!
- all our log buildings and most of the lumber used have been processed locally
- our electricity origins by 90% from 4x75 Watt solar panels
- to store the energy, our battery stock is large enough to cover the days with less sunshine and/or daylight in winter time
- as a backup, we use most efficient, low emission gasoline generators with consumptions less than 4dl per hour
- all our cabins use PW-module lights with 10W energy for their light/electricity supply
- our outboard 4-stroke engines are energy efficient and differ in sizes so they can be put in place depending on the trip you have planned
- we have our own green house that produces a big part of our fresh vegetables during the summer season. This limits fuel impacts for transportation
- we recycle our cans, glass and plastic
- we purchase – wherever possible – our food from local producers and/or organic farms in Canada
- we follow the guidelines and rules of the Yukon Government, Fisheries and Oceans Department. These guidelines help to maintain the biodiversity of Tagish Lake and offers the same great fishing experience to all of our guests
- we and all our guides are licensed wilderness guides – for your safety and the sake of our environment
