Welcome to the country of Northern Lights!

Winter season at Tagish Wilderness Lodge:
February 10 to April 06, 2012

Winter season is a very special period at Tagish Lake. Although daylight is short, there are a lot of ways to spend your vacation at Tagish Wilderness Lodge – be active and hike through the winter forests, pamper yourself in our wood-heated whirlpool or simply relax and take a deep breath of fresh, clean air.

The activities shown below are samples of what is included in our winter packages. Go to our section "Rates & Packages Winter", learn more about our winter offers and find your favourite Yukon winter vacation here!

Dogsledding

There is no better way to enjoy and embrace the Yukon Winter Wonderland! On a dogsled pulled by lovely huskies, keen to please and keen to run. This is how you experience the vastness of the Yukon Territory and the calm of nature around Tagish Lake!

Most of our transfers in winter are made by dogsled and depending on the choice of your program, you will spend several days mushing across the lake, always accompagnied by our professional mushing guide and a snowmachine nearby for your safety and comfort! Our hearty trapper lunches on the way around a campfire are legendary!

Northern Lights / Aurora Borealis

One of nature’s most spectacular wonders! During cold and clear nights, the Aurora Borealis span all across the lake northwards. Sometimes they are dancing, sometimes there is only a gleaming stream and at some occasions, they even show different colours! During your stay with us, we make sure that if they are active, you get to experience them!

Snowshoeing

act_snowshoeing Get active and venture into the forests around Tagish Lake on one of our guided snowshoeing tours.
Interpret the many animal tracks along the way, learn how nature copes with the extreme climate of the North and enjoy a mug-up on the lake shore, the sun shining on your face!

Snowmobiling

The snowmachine – or skidoo – is the Yukoners number 1 mean of transport in Winter.
With no roads and vehicles in your way, snowmobiling on Tagish Lake is an entirely different experience!
If you love the pace and power of these machines, we will take you on exciting rides during your stay with us!

Skijooring

It does not take a lot – a husky, a pair of cross country skis and a pulling harness, and you are geared up for your next fun winter activity! You are active but don’t have to do all the work yourself! Our friendly huskies help you ski across the frozen lake – you will be amazed how far you can get!

Ice fishing

Even though not as active as in summer, lake trout or whitefish can be caught in Tagish Lake also during winter time!
On a sunny calm day, there is nothing more relaxing than sitting on the lake with your fishing rod, enjoying a hot cup of tea and a chat with your hosts or locals who come down the lake for ice fishing.
