Winter Nature Tours & Activities

Program / Description

Day 1 – Arrival at Tagish Wilderness Lodge
Meet the Musher and dogteam in Tagish and get your first experience of dogsledding – you will be transferred on the dogsled across the frozen lake to the Tagish Wilderness Lodge, where your hosts are awaiting you with a hot cup of coffee.

If you have booked the Kluane Adventure Pre- or Post-Extension, you will be transferred to Tagish.

Day 2 – Dogsledding
Your first day with your dogteam – together with your fellow travelers, you learn how to feed and harness the dogs and after a detailed instruction from your professional mushing guide, you are off into the wild.

Day 3 – Dogsledding
Now feeling comfortable on your sled, you are ready for another day of mushing across the deeply frozen Tagish Lake. You share your team with one fellow traveler, and the two of you also share the chores of taking care of your dogteam. A hearty trapper lunch is provided on the way around a nice warm campfire.

Day 4 – Snowshoeing
Today, you venture into the forests of the area, interpreting animal tracks and learning how nature copes with the harsh climate in the far North.

Day 5 – Skijooring or cross country skiing
Be active – but get some help! Skijooring is a fun activity that includes one or two huskies pulling you on your cross country skis! There is no better place to do this than on the vast Tagish Lake! As always during a Yukon Winter, the evening is reserved for Northern Lights viewing.

Day 6 – Snowshoeing, Ice fishing or time to relax
Explore more of the nature around the Lodge on your snowshoes and climb up a few meters to enjoy a fantastic view over the valley! If you feel more like relaxing, our wood-heated sauna and Jacuzzi are at your disposal, as well as our cozy living room with lots of fascinating tales about the Yukon!
